The Story Behind Our Success

How It All Began

Our Beginnings

In 1972, our journey began when my dad purchased 10 acres on 30th Street and moved one of his job site trailers to the site as he wound down his construction company. Seeking a new direction, he decided to venture into trusses. With a radial arm saw, a computer, and some lumber, he took the first steps. Initially starting small with just a few employees, wood framing tables, and a JD Adams flip jig, his early efforts laid the foundation for what would become a thriving business.

Building a Foundation

Mike Walker, with his extensive network in the framing and construction industry of Northern California, played a crucial role in our success. His connections and experience were instrumental, even leading to the sale of trusses to his own framing company. Alongside him was his partner, Mavis Bullock, who handled taxes, payroll, and receivables, providing the business acumen needed to drive growth. Their collaboration and partnership lasted over 35 years, creating a strong, enduring foundation for the company.

Evolving Through the Years

As a child, I (Curtis Walker) spent summers with my dad at the site, playing in the fields and the office until I was old enough to work. My older brother Michael also contributed to the business from an early age. Eventually, both of us found our permanent roles in the family business. I became Secretary in 2012, and following my dad's retirement in 2016 and my brother's passing in 2017, I continued to lead the company. Despite these challenges, we have successfully completed tens of thousands of projects.

Over the years, we have undertaken a diverse range of projects, including tract homes for major builders like Meritage, Shea, DR Horton, Crestleigh, Toll Brothers, Summerhill, New Phaze, Christopherson Homes, and many more. Our portfolio also includes custom homes, schools, churches, hotels, apartments, podium jobs, fire restorations, additions, custom chicken coops, and gates. Essentially, we’ve built trusses for just about anything you can imagine.

Detailed Quote: Once we have a clear understanding of your project, we'll provide a comprehensive quote outlining the cost of your trusses and any necessary engineering calculations.

 Deposit & Truss Design: A small deposit secures your spot in our production queue and allows our experienced engineers to begin designing your trusses. We ensure they meet all building codes and local regulations.

‍  Collaboration & Permitting Assistance:  Working alongside your engineers and architects, we guarantee a smooth integration of the trusses into your overall design. Need help with city permits? We'll guide you through the process and revise drawings as needed to ensure approval.

Grow in the community

In-House Fabrication: We manufacture your trusses in our own facility using top-of-the-line equipment. This ensures the highest quality and control throughout the entire process.

‍  Delivery Options: Get your trusses delivered directly to your job site for an additional fee, or pick them up at our facility at your convenience.

‍  1-Year Warranty: We're confident in our work. Your Mike Walker Lumber trusses come with a 1-year warranty for your peace of mind.
